Jenkins Installation On Windows | Easy Steps


Jenkins is an open-source continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) automation server/tool. It offers a simple way to configure CI/CD pipeline to test, build, and deliver various software projects in a continuous manner.

It supports almost any combination of languages and source code repository to configure and build the pipeline.

Jenkins integrates the software development life cycle (SDLC) processes with build, document, test, package, stage, deploy, static analysis, and much more.

Jenkins achieves the automation with the help of 1000+ plugins it supports. Jenkins easily integrates with powerful automation tools like CHEF, Ansible, etc and also AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and many more.

Today we will learn how to download and install Jenkins on a Windows Server 2012 R2

Installation Step

Prerequisite can be found on following link,

First download Jenkins from below location and save it locally.

To install Jenkins a certain version of JAVA is required to install. Please go through the below link to have more clarity.

I have downloaded the required JAVA setup as below to install

Java needs to be installed prior to Jenkins.

Set your installation folder

Now Java successfully installed

Now start the Jenkins installation, after you run Jenkins setup below screen will appear

Leave the installation folder as default ( you can customize )

You can run the Jenkins service with a system account. But recommended to create a domain user account and run the service as Domain User

Leave the port number as default ( You can set your own )

Select the path of your JAVA installation folder

Leave as default

Click on Install

Installation started

Jenkins installation completed

After you click finish you will find the following page. Open Powershell,copy the path in RED  and run following command to get the password and paste it in the box, click continue

Note: You may find a different path as per your username you have given.

Click on “Install suggested plugins”

Wait until all plugins get installed

On this screen, fill the form and click ‘save and continue’

You can customize your URL. I have changed the URL below and created a DNS record accordingly in my environment.

Now Jenkins is ready to use. Click ‘start using Jenkins’

Create the DNS record

As I have customized the URL in previous step,Hence created following DNS record

As per my DNS record, Now i can access the Jenkins by using following link

Enter your credentials and you are there..
